Spending time with kids is more important than spending money on them

Spending money on their kids as a way to show affection is a parenting style that some people choose to follow. But what is truly important is also to not just spend money, but also time with them, time that they will probably remember throughout their life, even when they grow up to be adults.

Parenting is not an easy job and, we all know that. But the most common mistake parents end up making is thinking that the only way to make a child happy is meeting their physical and financial needs. We see parents today stretch themselves to any limits to provide their child with anything and everything they need. This is of course important but it is not the only thing that is. In their growing period it is very crucial to spend some good quality time with your child. Bonding with your child is more important than buying whatever they want because children outgrow toys but they will never outgrow memories and experiences, It will always stay with them.

What is the importance of spending time with your toddler?

Mental And Emotional Health:

Kids at a young age are more tender. It is very important from the parent’s side to show them that you love and care for them rather than just letting them know. You should make sure as a parent that you are spending enough time with your child that he/ she feels secure around you. This will help them balance their mental and emotional health and also develop more empathy in a parent child relationship.

Good Behaviour:

At an early age, parents are known to be the “role models” for their child. During those years, it is the best opportunity for parents to spend time with their toddlers and inculcate good habits into their child which will help them shape as better adults. Behavioural issues are often faced by a child especially when they are not given enough attention by parents and lack the sense of feeling wanted. Spending appropriate time with them on a daily basis will help them practice good and healthy behaviour.

Will Stay Connected:

Children when often not taken proper care of and are deprived of their parent’s attention are likely to seek refuge within modern technologies. It is very much likely for them to fall prey to social media and can heavily affect their growth. To avoid that, parents should make sure that you let them know and let them feel through your actions that you are available for them and create such space where they feel welcomed. This will help you stay connected with your child and help them be open towards you.

Strengthen Family Bond:

In the 21st century, working parents often find it difficult to balance between work and children which also leads to weak connection between family members. We have noticed that members hardly interact with each other and that type of environment is not healthy for a growing child. Thus, spending time together and enjoying with your kids will really encourage communication between each member and will help everyone come closer to each other.

Below we will be listing the things that can be done to spend time with your child and make some unforgettable memories with them.

Make It A Priority:

We understand that work and raising children can be a hassle at times but nothing can be worked out unless you make it a priority. You as a parent should set your priorities accordingly and try to give a little more attention to your kids than usual. In their growing age, love and nurturing is what they really need from your end.

Have Bedtime Rituals:

If spending time in the morning really becomes a task for you then you can always set up bedtime rituals for example reading a story to your child every night before bed!

Annual Family Trips:

Another best way to spend time with your child and loved ones could be going on a trip together. Children do learn a lot from the outdoors and they find it fun too. For example arranging family trekking camps.

Play Their Games:

Children are innocent and so are their games. Play along with them and you will get to explore a whole different world of imagination where they make up games. They often seem to love when parents show interest in their made up games and actually playing with them.

Cook Together:

Have a tradition in your house to at least cook one favourite dish of your child once a week. This can be the best and the easiest way to spend time with them and you also get to explore different cuisines with them!

Workout Together:

This is another best way to spend time with your little one as well as staying healthy. You can try out different types of exercises and activities with them. This practice is proven to be beneficial in all ways.

Have Movie Nights :

With imparting some good values and morals you also certainly want to be a “cool parent” in the eyes of your child. Arrange movie nights, ( provided that the movies are educational and does not encourage violence ) every weekend with your child and maybe discuss it later. This will help you understand their idea of fiction and reality.

Doing at least 3 out of the above mentioned things will help you bond with your child and create zillions of good memories for them to cherish their whole life.

You can buy toys for them but you cannot buy experiences for your child and believe it or not, the time you spend with them and the memories you make with your child are considered to be the building blocks of a good childhood. If you want your children to turn out well, spend twice as much time with them and half as much money.
